Los Haitises National Park
A visit to the wonderful Los Haitises National Park.
Arriving at the town of Sabana de La Mar, we will take a boat to cross the waters of the Caño Hondo river for 15 minutes until we reach the Bay of San Lorenzo and then to the Bay of Samaná, to immerse ourselves in the vegetation of a lush landscape.
Los Haitises National Park is a natural sanctuary for many species of birds, reptiles, crustaceans, fish, seafood and a wide variety of orchids. During the visit to one of the caves, we can see pictograms and petroglyphs left by the Taino Indians, who inhabited these caves more than 500 years ago. We can also see a wild beach that can only be accessed by sea.
Afterwards, we will travel for approximately 50 minutes to the Yanigua waterfall, where we can swim and relax, but especially enjoy a natural and therapeutic spa with high-quality clay for the skin. Then we will have a typical Dominican lunch.
On the way back, we will make a stop in a town where children from low-income families can interact with them, give them gifts such as pencils, clothes, personal items (no money or sweets please), etc.
